While deciding what I wanted to do for a small gathering of friends, I noticed the prices of a tea in a hotel. Instead I decided that I would host a small gathering – since there are only 3 of us anyway for tea at my home. Instead of spending $27 per person plus gratuity, with an additional $10 or so for a glass of champagne or a mimosa. I have a selection of loose leaf teas at home and food that I can make some small savory snacks in order to have a nice gathering of friends. We can control the music, linger as long as we like and for the cost of tea for one person, we could even have a glass of sparkling wine without the upcharge. Also the menu can be tailored to our tastes and not have to worry about asking for substitutions or leaving behind items we didn’t like.

Going out is nice, but when you can do it yourself at home cheaper and nice, go for it.

The larger the gathering hosting an event of your own poses problems for space, but for a small gathering, you could host something yourself and save money as well.
