Clothes. Detergent among other things is getting more expensive. So what is a frugal person to do? If you like to wear a variety of clothes, and don’t shy away from labels that say “dry clean only” then you already know that wearing your clothes more than one time will help get more wear out of them, if they are not excessively dirty.

Certain things such as jeans or a black or navy skirt will get more wears between washings than a light colored top or khakis. This doesn’t mean that you have to make a choice only to wear dark clothes, but you can wear a variety of clothes and just check whether or not there are stains on the clothes or odors. If you ran to the bus and forgot to wear deodorant, then you might just want to hold off on wearing that item again.

Fall is here, so take advantage of wearing a t-shirt under a wool sweater or a camisole under a blouse to get another wear out of your top.

Also, just because an item says “dry clean only,” you can use your judgement and see if you wan machine wash the article of clothing and let it drip dry.

This may not save much, but your clothes will last longer and you might be able to go a longer time between doing laundry.
