Keep it Cool
By Daphne | May 30, 2008
You are saving money and you want to try some different beverage. You’ve had iced tea, and iced coffee or flavored water. You have also tried different creamers.
Think outside of the glass. Whenever I see commercials for iced coffee or sweet tea they make me cringe because I like a strong brew of either with some taste.
Even if you like green tea there are some varieties that bled jasmine or pomegranate with the tea to give it a more interesting flavor. Even a spiced tea or a soothing Earl Grey would make a nice cup of iced tea.
If you can do something different with tea you certainly can do something different with coffee. Instead of adding a hazelnut creamer, why not just start with hazelnut flavored coffee or if you are more of a purist Yirgacheffe.
Taste the flavor of the beverage. For the price of a drink you can experiment with a different type of tea or a half pound of coffee.
Now that the weather is warmer, don’t stop on the way to work to buy a fancy cool beverage, prepare a chilled beverage at home, and put it in a reusable container to go.
Frugal doesn’t have to mean that you are going to reuse the tea bags all week or that you can’t afford to buy just standard black tea. You may find that when you buy a better type of tea or coffee that you will need less sugar and creamer.
