    Gas Woes

    By Daphne | May 23, 2008

Have you changed your plans because of the increased gas prices?

Many places touted as closer to home, instead of a long drive make me laugh because one person from AAA was saying that people could check out closer locations for the holiday weekend like Springfield or Indianapolis. The last time I checked and drove there, it took a little over three hours to get to Springfield, depending on if you are leaving from the Southern part of Chicago. One of the main attractions is the Lincoln Museum which has a hefty entrance fee.

Another option would be to have a cookout at home, and visit a museum or park.

If you have already planned for the trip and included the high price of gas, then see if you can make some changes along the way. Instead of stopping at a restaurant for a rest stop, bring along your own snack. So the money you would spend on food you can use to help fill up your tank.

Taking a train or bus may seem convenient but if you still need to drive when you get to your destination it isn’t worth it to have to rent a car once you get there. If you are staying near your destination and can get around by walking or taking public transportation, then go for it.

If you can’t afford to take the trip because of the higher gas prices, find something that you can do, instead of moping around.

Have a safe and happy weekend!
