    Pawn or Sell?

    By Daphne | May 7, 2008

Last night on the news there was a segment on pawn shops. A pawnbroker was saying that he has had more business lately which is a sign to him that business is down. As the cameras went through his storage area there were electronics, fur coats, scooters, a motorcycle and more. In the front of the store there was lots of jewelry - especially gold. The price of gold has made it attractive to pawn or sell to get money.

If you do not plan on getting your things back, need the money right away or don’t want to go through the hassle of selling things yourself, then you may want to do to a pan shop. Otherwise you may do well to sell things on Craigslist, Kijiji or eBay. For larger items like a car, an ATV or boat, you might want to place an ad in a community paper.

Many of the things that people are selling may have been things they didn’t need in the first place or things that they can do without.

If you deal with a pawnbroker you have a chance to get your things back, if you sell them outright: they are gone forever. Either way make sure that what you want to pawn or sell you can actually purge from your life temporarily or permanently.
