    Talking Points

Here is a round up of some money related topics that have caught my attention lately

    • At least the one thing that is working in our favor for the low dollar, we can at least export more items. Unfortunately for those who wish to travel abroad the dollar buys a lot less. Also for people who have pinned their hopes on American buyers they are suffering and losing money.

    • The dollar has hurt smaller businesses who cannot redirect their sales efforts as easily as large conglomeration. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket is what you often hear but when it comes to investing or business that doesn’t always work.

    • Lately, I have seen things that I haven’t seen in quite a while, coupons for quick food restaurants and longer expiration dates on coupons. I received a gift card from a quick food restaurant just for completing a survey. It’s almost enough to pay for a meal but the difference I would have to pay for a drink, tax and tip would cost me less than if I went to a fast food restaurant.

    • If you don’t believe that a CFL lightbulb will make a difference in your electric bill then you are gravely mistaken. As my lightbulbs burn out I am replacing them with CFLs. The difference in my electric bill has been astonishing. The electric rates in Illinois increased and I was accustomed to paying about a dollar a day for electric. Now, my last bill showed that with the use of CFLs in 3 fixtures in my home has made my electric bill shrink to its former self. They do have drawbacks but the savings outweigh the drawbacks.

    • If you are prudent in your spending now, you could really get some great deals. The consumer is king, if he or she chooses to be because since the “economic downturn” (recession) every retailer is vying for your money.

    • Since more people are holding on to the money that they have and more are in need… charitable organizations are feeling the crunch. Help someone else out, if you can make a small donation.

•The stock market will eventually increase.. If you invest low when you get more bang for your buck, then you see gains in the future.
