    Day After

    By Daphne | December 27, 2007

Yesterday’s shopping was not a total bust but retailers bought fewer items that they would have to sell at a reduced rate. Meaning that people like myself who were looking for after Christmas bargains were disappointed.

I did buy Christmas cards for next year, some boxes and wrapping paper. Other than that the pickings were rather slim. The day after Christmas I was armed with gift cards for my favorite stores and saw nothing that I wanted to purchase. It was sad.

There were very few people walking around the mall and stores that generally offer samples of whatever they are trying to sell had none available. It was even easy to find a parking space at the mall.

News reports say that there were lots of crowds. There weren’t. This is just another sign that the economy is taking its toll on people. Meaning that now more than ever we need to make good choices with money.

Some retailers are trying to be more aggressive and get people into the buying mood with the inventory that they have. It does not necessarily mean that it will help us. When consumers are given coupons for a future date they may return to the store just to buy something that they may not need to take advantage of the discount.

Remember buy what you can afford… don’t be swayed.
