    Rags

    By Daphne | November 30, 2007

I had some clothes that I was getting rid of; they were beyond wear or sale. Even the thrift store would have thrown these out. They were destined for the trash.

This morning, I had a plumbing adventure and tried to plunge my sink this morning. I was unsuccessful at doing this but the clothes I was getting rid of came in handy as rags.

Since I was tossing the clothes anyway, I used them as rags. The things I was tossing, a thread bear cotton shirt and stained sweatshirt, were very absorbent. When I was done, I just took the things and put them in the garbage. To clean the same mess, I would have run through an entire roll of paper towels.

The area around the sink was really messy after my adventure in plumbing so I wiped the counter with a cheap dishrag, you know the kind that sells for a dozen for $4 or so. These are really great for cleaning up around the house, much better than the box of rags or paper towels. Plus these are washable unless you have an absolute mess or stains that will not come out of the cloths.

Old clothes can be repurposed as rags and if the mess is too dirty, just make sure you have a garbage bag handy and throw them out.

The trash that I had definitely was a treasure because I had a mess and didn’t have to worry about using some good towels or dish rags to clean up the mess.
