    Vacation Planning

    By Daphne | October 18, 2007

Thinking about traveling? Then you should start saving for your trip. One way to do this would be to pit a little aside each week or month for your trip. Then by the time the trip rolls around you have it paid for or most of it anyway. If you travel during off-peak times which are still desirable times to go you can save money. As well.

Before you decide where you want to go, figure out how much you have or will have to spend. If you want to take a cruise on the Queen Mary but only have enough to take a cruise on the Chicago River, then you need to rethink your choices.

What about a nice vacation every other year? This way you have more time to save money for the trip and for spending as well.

Check the type of trip you want now, there are always sales and there seem to be more offers in the fall when the summer peak season travelers drop off. Although the weather is just as nice in some locations, summer is the time most people choose to travel. Start checking around. All-inclusive resorts, spas and cruise lines are all looking for a way to attract new patrons. Or plan your own trip to a destination and take advantage of local specials.

If you are traveling with at least one other person, your room cost will be lower because you will split that. Some places charge almost 75% for a single supplement, so find a friend to go with you or make another selection if you were planning to travel solo.

Use rewards points and customer loyalty benefits to also get extra benefits. Customer loyalty benefits are often not advertised to the general public and the rates are not even available on the big travel sites.

Start saving for that trip and go while you can enjoy it.
